CPC Votes to Support Nippon GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project

The Directors of the Circum-Pacific Council, an international non-profit NGO whose membership is comprised of senior scientists, engineers, and oceanographers from governments, industry, and academia, have unanimously voted to endorse the Nippon-GEBCO Seabed 2030 project. The project's goal is to map the entire ocean floor by 2030.

The CPC will support the Nippon GEBCO Seabed 2030 project by assisting in the collation of bathymetric data and will promote the importance of the project in supporting the UN's Sustainable Goal #14 that aims to conserve and use the oceans for sustainable development.

Thematic map products are anticipated to be constructed from the bathymetry generated by the Seabed 2030 project and used by CPC members to enhance the scientific understanding of the Oceans and the seafloor.
